Getting up at night is one of the easiest times to fall. A motion light will not solve every risk, but it can show the floor before you take the first step.

Dusk-to-dawn glow provides continuous safety lighting throughout the home. Sleep-friendly amber LED emits soft light at 600Nm, which has been shown to be less disruptive to sleep.
Vansky Under-Bed Motion Strip
Flexible LED strip mounts under bedframe
A highly sensitive PIR motion sensor detects movement in just 1 seconds, activating the LED light strip before your feet even touch the floor. Every step—from sitting up in bed to walking across the bedroom—is instantly and clearly guided.
Setup Tips for Fall Prevention:
- Choose Warm Tones: Look for 2700K–3000K warm white lights. Cool blue or stark white lights disrupt melatonin production and cause midnight eye glare.
- Create a Continuous Path: Place lights at ankle level in a sequence—one at the bedside, one in the hallway, and one inside the bathroom door frame.
- Test Sensor Angle: Position plug-in units so the motion sensor faces the direction of incoming footsteps, ensuring the light activates before stepping into the dark.
Pros
- Lights come on by themselves, so you do not have to hunt for a switch in the dark
- A path of soft light can lower the chance of a trip on the way to the bathroom
- Plug-in models are cheap and easy to install
- Stick-on models work on stairs and closets where there is no outlet
- An under-bed strip lights the floor as soon as you stand up
Cons
- Cheap sensors can miss you, or come on when they should not
- Battery lights need fresh batteries or they fail when you need them
- A light that is too bright can glare and make it harder to see
- Plug-in lights only work where there is an outlet
- These lights help, but they do not replace grab bars, clear walkways, or good slippers
Who each one is for
- Hallways and bedrooms with outlets: AUVON plug-in 4-pack
- A simple trusted plug-in light: GE motion night light
- Stairs, closets, or spots with no outlet: Mr. Beams stick-on lights
- Getting out of bed at night: Vansky under-bed strip
My recommendation
Start with a path, not one light. Put a soft light by the bed, one in the hall, and one near the bathroom. Warm light is easier on the eyes at night than bright white light.
If I could add only one thing first, I would put an under-bed light or a plug-in light on the way to the bathroom. That is where many nighttime falls happen.
